The 2025–2026 University Volleyball Tournament officially served off on Sunday evening at the Qatar University Sports and Events Complex (A07), marking the start of a thrilling new season of university sports in the country. Organized by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF), in collaboration with the Qatar Volleyball Association and Qatar University, the tournament runs from October 5 to 15, bringing together a vibrant lineup of student from higher education institutions across Qatar. The men’s competition features teams representing Doha University for Science and Technology, Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar. On the women’s side, five teams are competing: Doha University for Science and Technology (1), Doha University for Science and Technology (2), Qatar University (1), Qatar University (2), and Hamad Bin Khalifa University. The Tournament kicked off its men’s volleyball competitions with Qatar University securing a straight-set victory over Hamad Bin Khalifa University 2–0 (25–15), while Doha University for Science and Technology (DUST) triumphed over Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar with the same score of 2–0 (25–13). As for the women’s opening matches held on Sunday, DUST (Team 1) claimed a 2–0 (25–8) win against Qatar University (Team 2), while DUST (Team 2) also defeated Hamad Bin Khalifa University 2–0 (25–11). The University Volleyball Championship stands out as one of the leading events on the collegiate sports calendar, promoting fair competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students. Beyond the court, the tournament highlights volleyball’s unique role in developing both the physical fitness and mental sharpness of Qatar’s university students, helping them build balanced, disciplined, and collaborative personalities values that align perfectly with the QCSF’s mission to embed sports as a way of life among youth.

The curtain came down on the 2025–2026 University Rapid Chess Tournament in an atmosphere filled with excitement and intellectual energy. H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, President of the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation, crowned the men’s and women’s champions at the Community College of Qatar’s Sports Hall , where talented students delivered thrilling performances before an engaged audience. The awarding ceremony was attended by Dr. Ali Abdullah Al-Buainain, Vice President for Student Affairs at the Community College of Qatar, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Mudahka, President of the Qatar Chess Association, in a celebration that highlighted the growing importance of university sports and their role in promoting intellectual and mental activities among young people. In the men’s individual competition, Mahgoub Mohamed Mahgoub (Doha University for Science and Technology) clinched first place, with his teammate Mohand Hussein Mohamed finishing second, and Yousef Al-Janahi (Qatar University) securing third. In the men’s team event, Doha University for Science and Technology dominated with first place, followed by Qatar University in second, and the Community College of Qatar in third. In the women’s individual competition, Senanur Kartal (Qatar University) took the top spot, while Victoria Honoridez (Doha University for Science and Technology) came second, and Ghalya Al-Naimi (Doha University for Science and Technology) finished third. On the women’s team level, Doha University for Science and Technology captured the tournament title, with Qatar University as runners-up, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University in third. Jointly organized by the Qatar University Sports Federation, the Qatar Chess Association , and the Community College of Qatar , the tournament featured participation from five universities in both categories: Qatar University, Doha University for Science and Technology, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the International Institute of Studies, the Malaysian University, and the Community College of Qatar . With its high level of competition and strong turnout, the tournament once again underlined the success of collective efforts to strengthen chess within the university community, while fostering creativity, strategic thinking, and a spirit of challenge among students.

The curtain came down on the 2025–2026 University Basketball Championship on Sunday evening, wrapping up two weeks of high-energy competition and spirited sportsmanship. Staged at the Qatar University Sports and Events Complex (A07) from September 7 to 21, the tournament was organized by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation in cooperation with Qatar University and the Qatar Basketball Federation. This year’s edition once again underscored the rapid growth of university sports in Qatar, delivering an exceptional standard of play that blended technical quality with the values of teamwork and fair competition. In the men’s competition, Qatar University emerged as champions after an impressive campaign, with Doha University for Science and Technology taking second place and Hamad Bin Khalifa University finishing third. The closing ceremony was marked by a festive spirit as H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, President of the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation, and Dr. Mohammad Shahin Al Kuwari, Vice President for Student Life and Services at Qatar University, handed the championship trophy and gold medals to the winning team. Dr. Angela Flowerday, Vice President of Doha University for Science and Technology, awarded the silver medals to the runners-up, while Ms. Wadha Al Saud, Sports and Recreation Activities Supervisor at HBKU Student Affairs, presented the bronze medals to the third-place finishers. Individual honors went to Ayomids Alabi (Doha University for Science and Technology), who was named Best Player, and Ali El-Diasaty (Qatar University), who received the Top Scorer award after his standout displays throughout the tournament. In the women’s bracket, Qatar University maintained its dominance, claiming first place, with Hamad Bin Khalifa University finishing as runners-up. The champions were crowned in the presence of H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, Dr. Mohammad Shahin Al Kuwari, and Ms. Wadha Al Saud. As for the individual awards for the female students, Sharon Diagi from Hamad Bin Khalifa University won the Best Player award for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament. Sama Jasser received the Top Scorer award.
