DOHA – The courts of Doha University for Science and Technology came alive on Saturday evening with the launch of the QCSF University Basketball Championship for the 2024–2025 sports season.

Organized by the Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation (QCSF), in collaboration with the Qatar Basketball Federation, Doha University for Science and Technology, and Qatar Foundation, the tournament runs from April 12 to 21.

The opening day delivered a high-energy start to the men’s competition, marked by excitement, intensity, and a strong display of sportsmanship. In the first match, Qatar University secured a commanding 61–29 victory over Georgetown University in Qatar. In the second game, Texas A&M University at Qatar overcame Hamad Bin Khalifa University with a score of 48–32.

The action resumes on Sunday, with Georgetown University facing Texas A&M in the opening match, followed by a much-anticipated clash between Qatar University and hosts Doha University for Science and Technology.

The men’s tournament features several prominent universities and higher education institutions, including Georgetown University in Qatar, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Qatar University, and Doha University for Science and Technology.

The women’s competition is set to kick off on Tuesday at Qatar Foundation’s courts, featuring teams from Qatar University, Doha University for Science and Technology, Texas A&M University at Qatar, and Georgetown University in Qatar.

This tournament is among the marquee events on the QCSF calendar, blending athletic excellence with a vibrant collegiate spirit. It plays a pivotal role in fostering connection, teamwork, and mutual respect among students across Qatar’s academic institutions.

The tournament is part of QCSF’s annual sports calendar, which encompasses a wide range of individual and team events throughout the academic year.

QCSF remains dedicated to cultivating an inclusive sporting environment that nurtures talent, builds character, and prepares students to represent their institutions at regional, continental, and international levels.
